Recent Clients / news:

Projects as of July 2016:  Swans triple LP/double CD The Glowing Man is out (mixed by Ingo Krauss and I; mastered by yrs. truly), Molecular will issue their debut vinyl in the US and England in a couple months, Boz Boorer's (Morrisey's guitarist) solo CD Age of Boom, Simon Goff's HUE, Anthony Burr's Morton Feldman/Alvin Lucier collection and a vinyl remaster for Battle of Mice, Werner Durand's LP Diasporagas on Edition-Telemark, a second CD from Igor Osypov, II, I've missed a few in there...

As of November 2015: just finished mixing the latest Swans album, and will be mastering that in the next couple weeks, as well as the sound for their Live at Volksbuehne 2015 DVD.  In the last months I've worked on albums by Ulan Bator (Abracadabra), Next Step Quintet from Athens Greece, A Dead Forest Index, a new Necks CD (Vertigo), Lynn Wright and Algis KizysDavid Grubbs (Primrose),  Dear Life, and The Ghouls.

The story in March 2015 (I know, I'm not a very diligent blogger...) : Insect Ark has finished a new CD, as well as And The Wiremen (all mastering and some mixes by me), Swans will be re-releasing FILTH as a triple CD including lots of rare old concert recordings.  We did a lot of pondering and decided to keep the main FILTH tracks largely as they were, with some minor tweaks for vinyl compatibility (yes, there'll be triple vinyl as well), and concentrate on really getting the most out of the bonus tracks, some new ones, and some that never got sufficient attention.  White Light from the Mouth of Infinity is to follow, also with lots of live material added to the original.  Berlin's MAUD, and the mystical Ole Wagner just came through, a new CD for Tony Buck's Transmit, Greg Brickey's new EP with Barkmarket's J. Nowlin and R. Savage, and a new album from Kieran McMahon.  New vinyl for Christina Kubisch, released by Rumpsti Pumpsti Gallery.  That more or less sums it up.

August has been a very interesting international month, including work with bands from all over the world: Holger from Brazil, Igor Osypov from Ukraine, Julia Marcel from Poland, Ton Steine Scherben and Wintersuite, both from from Berlin, and Swans from New York City, Transmit from Australia (with Tony Buck of The Necks) as well as a film project for Ivalo Frank of Greenland.  Never a dull moment!

I'm happy to note that the Swans triple LP  The Seer was voted #5 of "The Top 50 Albums of 2013" in Pitchfork, #4 on Stereogum's top 50 and is highly praised in Wire Magazine. Congratulations!

oddments...

My old 80-8.
Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it is completely renovated (check out the azimuth on the oscilloscope!)...

And here is a new addition: Jeff Fisher at Rerun Electronics built out (and heavily modded) a quartet of Magnetic Sound preamp/line-drivers to deliver some needed makeup gain for my Studer 089.  They use the same UTC HA100X transformers that the original LA2A's employed, with a 50's DDR circuit design.  Very tasty, and gorgeous to boot.  Thanks Jeff!

HDX rig / new Swans double CD / triple vinyl

News from the tubes:  micro-moose-berlin is now fully up to date with an Avid HDX rig, and a 16 x 16 Avid HD IO, which sounds great, noticably better than the Digidesign 192 (which I liked a lot!).  I've just finished up the Swans double CD/triple vinyl "To Be Kind" and it has gone to press in the US and Europe, so look out for it in the next months.  Meanwhile working with lots of Berlin bands (see list) as well as new contacts and old friends in the States.  Just about to dust off my trusty TASCAM 80-8 to work on some lofi tape projects, and still working on a new power supply for a rack of four International Projector Co. micpre/line amps, which feature the legendary UTC HA-100-X transfomers (also used as input TX's in the original LA2A's).  Looking out for one more Altec 8 band passive EQ to turn this into a killer vintage mastering equalizer.
